Professor in Operational Research and Computer Science University of Nottingham - School of Computer Science
Salary will be within the Professorial range, minimum £55,908 per annum depending on skills and experience. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the £13m LANCS initiative which brings together four British universities - Cardiff, Lancaster, Nottingham and Southampton Universities - to develop world-leading research and teaching in the field of Operational Research (OR).
The LANCS initiative, supported by a Science and Innovation Award from the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council UK (EPSRC), will bring about a significant expansion of the national research base in OR and will build significant new research capacity to ensure that UK industry competes effectively in the global market.
An outstanding candidate is required to drive forward Nottingham's contribution to the LANCS initiative working in the Automated Scheduling Planning and Optimisation (ASAP) Research Group. The successful candidate will play a key role in the consortium and will be expected to lead the initiative's international scientific outreach and industrial co-ordination programmes.
After the completion of the grant the successful applicant will continue this leadership role at the interface between Operational Research and Computer Science.
Candidates should have a proven record of publications in high quality international academic journals. A history of successful winning of significant research funding is also essential.
The successful candidate will be expected to undertake a research leadership role, both within the School and also as part of major University-wide initiatives. The candidate will also contribute to the development of teaching and learning within the School.
