Actividad divulgación de la Estadística

1.       Dpto de Estadística de la Carlos III dentro de la Semana de la Ciencia.


Concurso-taller-espectáculo, donde se trata de divulgar la Estadística de una forma lúdica. Tendrá lugar el próximo 13 de Noviembre en el Auditorio de Leganés del Campus de la Universidad. La web del evento es www.uc3m.es/statwar por si queréis más detalle.
         
2.       El día 9 de octubre se celebró una Jornada de Estadística en la Universidad del País Vasco con gran éxito, más de 200 participantes, 36 posters y más de 60 solicitudes para realizar el taller ofertado por Biostatech. Biostatistical Research Analyst. BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee

Duties & Responsibilities: Research Statistician consults and collaborates in medical research and multi-disciplinary team environment; coordinates, conducts and interprets analyses of biomedical research projects in the Division of Hematology using descriptive statistics, basic inferential tests and advanced statistical procedures; writes programs using statistical software which may include developing special statistical programs for which no packaged software exists; assists in preparation of journal articles, technical reports and grant submissions.

Tenured / Tenure Track Faculty. University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill

Duties & Responsibilities: The Departments of Biostatistics and Genetics at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill are seeking applications for two tenure-track or tenured positions in statistical genetics/genomics, starting in the summer or fall of 2014. Primary appointments will be in the Department of Biostatistics in the Gillings School of Global Public Health, with joint appointments in the Department of Genetics in the School of Medicine. Appointments may be at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level, depending on qualifications. At least one position will be at the Assistant Professor rank.

Post-Doctoral Data Analyst, University of Michigan Kidney Epidemiology & Cost Center

Duties & Responsibilities: We are inviting applicants to a Post-doctoral Data Analyst position emphasizing application of statistical methods to develop quality measures for the US End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) population under a newly awarded contract. More specifically, our work focuses on designing and applying statistical approaches for (1) analysis of complicated recurrent event data (e.g. ESRD hospitalizations and readmissions), (2) analysis of dialysis adequacy (e.g. treatment time and ultrafiltration rate), and (3) analysis of standardized transfusion rate. The Post-doctoral fellow is to be supervised by the Director and Professor of  Biostatisics, Yi Li.

Assistant Professor of Statistics. Western Washington University

Duties & Responsibilities: The successful candidate is expected to be an excellent teacher, who will teach both lower-division and upper division/graduate level courses in statistics and probability. The current standard teaching load is two courses (about 9 classroom hours per week) per quarter. Teaching assignments may include some core mathematics courses. A good refereed publication record is required. He/she is expected to be actively involved in curricular development and other departmental issues. Interdisciplinary collaborative research and the establishment of grant-funded projects are strongly encouraged.

TENURE-TRACK FELLOWSHIP (LEADING TO LECTURESHIP) UNIVERSITY OF LIVERPOOL

You will join a group of statisticians in the Department of Epidemiology and Population Health,
led by Professor Peter Diggle. The group is currently based on the University of Liverpool’s
Leahurst campus but is likely to move to new accommodation on the Liverpool city-centre
campus in summer 2014. The group’s main focus is on statistical methodology motivated by
and applied to substantive research in human and veterinary epidemiology and population
health, but you will also have opportunities to contribute to research programmes in
other parts of the university’s Faculty of Health and Life Sciences.
