We are looking for a scientific programmer (Msc) /bio-informatics
bachelor to work on the challenging interface between Plant sciences
and Informatics.
Plant breeding research nowadays deals with a lot of data, resulting
from phenotyping in field and greenhouse trials but also from
high-throughput analysis of molecular markers, RNA transcripts
(microarrays), proteins and metabolites. Databases are becoming
indispensable to manage these data and to use them for the selection of
plant material and for identification of markers, metabolites and
mechanisms associated with important agronomic traits.
Within Wageningen UR Plant Breeding, we are developing a database
systems which should provide us with the possibility to manage these
data streams, and more importantly, integrate the different types of
data using semantic web technology in a multidisciplinary research
environment.
