Senior BioStatistician / Scientist in Boston

The Mapi HEOR (Health Economics Outcomes Research) & Strategic Market Access team is adding a Senior BioStatistician/Scientist to our team in Boston, MA USA!  When joining the Mapi HEOR & Strategic Market Access team, the evaluation of the clinical and economic value of treatments will be at the heart of your work.  The team provides strategic consultancy and scientific expertise to support clients in Market Access Positioning and Health Technology Assessment.  The team is a global multidisciplinary group of Health Economists, Epidemiologists, Mathematicians, BioStatisticians and Clinical Scientists.

THE POSITION:  We wish to appoint a Senior BioStatistician/Scientist to join our Health Economics and Outcomes team based in Boston. This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious researcher in epidemiology, biostatistics, health services research or a related quantitative subject who is looking to develop his or her international career in health economics and outcomes research. We will provide you with the necessary training and support for your professional development in this challenging and rapidly-moving field. In return we expect you to quickly build on your existing knowledge and skills, coaching and supporting our project teams on technical issues.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Your role will be exciting and varied, working on international projects supporting access to the market of our clients’ products. You will be working as a member of a project team and will be involved in a range of tasks, including:
  •  Developing and adapting economic models for health technology assessment and reimbursement purposes
  •  Performing meta-analysis and network meta-analysis using generalized linear mixed models with a Bayesian approach
  •  Conducting mixed treatment comparisons and patient level database statistical analyses
  •  Acting as internal consultant to the researchers
  •  Training and development of the team in the above mentioned areas of expertise
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:   Minimum Master’s Degree obtained with PhD being highly preferred. Applicants will have a postgraduate qualification (preferably PhD) in one of the following: Statistics, Biostatistics, Econometrics, Epidemiology, Health Technology Assessment, Health Economics, or Mathematics.
Experience:  Minimum five (5) years’ work experience in applied research (preferably within a consultancy environment) as well as a demonstrated ability to develop statistical and mathematical solutions to “real-world” problems
In addition to a strong scientific and technical background the position requires the ability to communicate statistical methodologies effectively to clients and team members. Hands-on experience in health economic modelling, network meta-analysis or survival analysis of randomized control trials is required. Working knowledge of one or more of the following software packages: Excel/Visual Basic, WinBUGS, R, SAS, or Stata.
