Duties & Responsibilities: The Department of Biostatistics and Bioinformatics at Duke University Medical Center is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate for a four-year research project. The specific goals of the project are to develop and validate prognostic and predictive models to predict clinical outcomes; test for Prentice surrogate criteria; create implementable applications for final models; develop statistical methodology related to the above aims; and write manuscripts. There will be an opportunity to work on biomarker data.

Post Doctoral Researcher in Biostatistics.Leiden University Medical Centre, The Netherlands

Duties & Responsibilities: The Department of Medical Statistics and Bioinformatics of Leiden University Medical Centre (LUMC, The Netherlands) has a new post doctoral position available in the area of prediction methods for high-dimensional (omics) data. The appointee will be based at the LUMC and join the international MIMOmics network of experts which is funding this project. MIMOmics is a large and unique European transnational research collaboration between statisticians, bioinformaticians, molecular epidemiologists and system biologists which has as primary objective the development of statistical methodology for the analysis and integration of multiple distinct “omics” data sources which are derived from distinct levels of human biological response and using distinct measurement platforms and populations. The successful applicant will become part of this international team and is expected to research and apply existing statistical methods for meaningful application and development of suitable analysis approaches, as well as develop new methodology where required. Duties & Responsibilities: Job Objective: To provide analytical support in BSSI’s key service areas. PhD in Statistics in Bayesian Methods

Applications are invited for a three year postdoctoral research position to work on a multidisciplinary research project "Simulation Tools for Robust Automated Manufacturing". The project is a new collaboration between statisticians at the School of Mathematics and Statistics and engineers at the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre at the University of Sheffield.

Vacancy for a 2 year Post-doctoral Research Assistant in the Statistical Analysis of Volcanic Data-streams, based in the Department of Earth Sciences, University of Oxford.

We are looking for a researcher to work on the statistical analysis of real-time volcanic data-streams within the NERC-ESRC project ‘Strengthening Resilience in Volcanic Areas, STREVA, www.streva.ac.uk.

The PDRA will work with researchers in the UK and at volcano observatories overseas. The PDRA will investigate best practice for real-time processing, analysis and integration of data streams; and will apply new statistical tools  and signal-processing techniques to archive volcano data to assess the potential for developing automated operational alert systems for monitoring.

IV Jornadas de Intercambio de Experiencias de Innovación Docente en Estadística

IV Jornadas de Intercambio de Experiencias de Innovación Docente en la Universidad Politécnica de Cartagena los días 27 y 28 de junio.

Estas Jornadas pretenden ser un foro de debate en el que se pongan en común experiencias en innovación educativa en las áreas de Estadística y de Métodos Cuantitativos. Las Jornadas están destinadas a miembros de la Comunidad Universitaria cuya actividad docente se centre en asignaturas de Estadística para cualquiera que sea la titulación en la que se imparta.
