Assistant Professor University of Colorado, Anschutz Medical Campus, Colorado School of Public Health, Department of Biostatistics & Informatics

Company Information: The University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus hosts a recently constructed $3 billion state-of-the-art academic medical complex, including clinical and research facilities that house the Schools of Medicine, Pharmacy, Public Health, Dental Medicine, Graduate Studies, College of Nursing, University of Colorado Hospital and The Children’s Hospital, with the scheduled relocation of the Veterans Administration Medical Center to a new $1.3 billion facility in 2015. The Anschutz Medical Campus (AMC) of UC Denver is the premier biomedical research institution in the Rocky Mountain Region, with over $450 million in extramural grant funding including the Clinical Translational Science Award which funds the CCTSI and the BERD Core. AMC research faculty distinctions include Nobel, National Medal of Science, National Academy of Sciences and Howard Hughes Investigators. The CCTSI provides and manages by itself or in concert with the UC Cancer Center a full range of state-of-the-art shared research resources and services. The Department of Biostatistics and Informatics currently includes over 30 primary appointment faculty members based in the department and at affiliated institutions. The Department offers MS and PhD degrees in Biostatistics and an Applied Biostatistics concentration in the MPH program. The Department also provides biostatistics education for the other programs and concentrations in the CSPH, including MPH and DrPH; MS and PhD in Epidemiology; and PhD in Health Services Research. Examples of core faculty methodology research include cancer and HIV/AIDS clinical trials; missing data; longitudinal analysis; sequential clinical trial design; cancer screening; statistical methods in genetics and genomics; Bayesian methods in clinical trials; educational evaluation; and observational study design and analysis. We are involved in collaborative studies in Type I and Type II diabetes; cancer epidemiology, prevention and treatment; aging, infectious disease epidemiology and prevention; cardiology; respiratory disease; cystic fibrosis; schizophrenia; and human nutrition. Additional collaborative opportunities exist within the CSPH and university as well as with our many affiliated institutions (e.g. Denver Health, Denver VA, Kaiser Health Center of Colorado, and the National Jewish Immunological Research Center).

Position Title: Assistant Professor

Duties & Responsibilities: The Department of Biostatistics and Informatics in the Colorado School of Public Health (CSPH) has an opening for a permanent full-time tenure eligible Assistant Professor. The position will require original research in biostatistical methodology, teaching in the biostatistics MS, PhD) and/or MPH programs, and collaborative research with health outcomes researchers, public health investigators, basic scientists, and/or clinical scientists. Opportunities exist for involvement and leadership in the CSPH/MPH program, and for collaborative work in health outcomes research, but all areas will be considered. Job Responsibilities: This Assistant Professor position has three major components: (1) develop his or her biostatistical methods research in their focused area of interest, eventually seeking funding for that research whenever possible; (2) teach and mentor Biostatistics graduate and MPH students; (3) participate in collaborative research.

Position Qualifications: Required Qualifications: This position requires a PhD/ScD in Biostatistics, Statistics, or related field with demonstrated ability to: conduct independent and collaborative biostatistics methods research, teach biostatistics to graduate and/or professional students, and work as a biostatistician collaborator within Public Health and/or biomedical outcome research. Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given to applicants who have demonstrated teaching experience and a record of publications in biostatistical methods journals. We invite applications in all areas of specialization within biostatistics and areas of collaboration. We have particular needs, and opportunities exist, in research, teaching and leadership related to Public Health and the MPH program, and for collaborative work in health outcomes research, clinical trials and longitudinal data analysis.

Salary Range: The salary will be commensurate with experience (typically ranging from $85,000 to $100,000).
