Position Title: Predoctoral Fellowship (Graduate Research Assistant)

Duties & Responsibilities:

Position Qualifications: The Department of Biostatistics and Epidemiology at the University of Oklahoma Health Science Center (OUHSC) invites applications for one or two predoctoral fellowships, available immediately, in genetic epidemiology/statistical genetics. The position will focus on identifying genetic and epigenetic factors for cardiovascular disease and its risk factors. The candidate will also have chance to work on projects on testing gene-gene and gene-environment interactions using both genome-wide association study (GWAS) and pathway-based approaches. Applicants should hold a University degree in one of the following areas: biostatistics, mathematics, medicine, quantitative genetics or related fields. Candidates with a master degree in epidemiology, biostatistics, or bioinformatics are desirable. The candidate should have obtained these degrees minimally with distinction. Candidates should also have a strong interest in cardiovascular genetic epidemiology and are highly motivated to conduct scientific research. Application for this predoctoral scholarship (also called Graduate Research Assistant) needs to go through all the procedures from the Graduate College at OUHSC, which requires transcripts, GRE scores and other supporting documents. International students will also require TOEFL score. Depending on the applicant’s background, some may need to apply for a master degree in Epidemiology first, and then transfer to PhD in Epidemiology program. In your Career Goal Statement, please clearly state that you are interested in cardiovascular genetic epidemiology.
