Chair in Statistics
Salary range: from £68,970 p.a.
Made possible by further ambitious strategic investment by Imperial College
London, the Statistics Section in the Department of Mathematics is seeking to
expand. A primary purpose of this expansion is to further support the
development and delivery of a full-time MSc in Statistics course, which
commenced in October 2012. Recent initiatives within the Statistics
Section have included the recruitment of a specialist Lecturer in credit
scoring, and the recruitment of a Lecturer, joint with Physics, in
astrostatistics. Further information about the Statistics Section can be found

Candidates will have a PhD (or equivalent) in Statistics or a closely
related discipline, and will have research interests in the field of
statistical science,broadly interpreted. Candidates must be able to demonstrate
an exceptionally strong research record of the highest international calibre,
and will have a proven track record of securing research funding. They must
also be able to demonstrate the ability to sustain a vigorous research
programme. Extensive experience of teaching at undergraduate and/or
postgraduate level across a range of subjects in Statistics, and a substantial
track record of successful postgraduate student supervision and postdoctoral
mentoring, are essential. You will also have strong leadership qualities in
areas which enhance and extend those of the Section.
