Senior Lecturer in Medical Statistics Brighton & Sussex Medical School / Division of Primary Care & Public Health

This is an exciting opportunity for a medical statistician or methodologist with excellent quantitative skills to take a leading role in the development of research infrastructure and strategy at the Brighton and Sussex Medical School (BSMS) at a time of rapid development.  The postholder will work with colleagues at BSMS, its host universities and NHS Trust to support and develop applied and methodological research and facilitate the developing a Clinical Trials Unit.  The postholder will also contribute to  postgraduate and undergraduate teaching, and to School administration.

The postholder will be educated to doctoral level or equivalent in relevant quantitative methods, with a track record of high quality publications.  They will be able to demonstrate the ability to work effectively and influentially in multidisciplinary clinical research teams.

BSMS, in collaboration with its host universities and NHS partners, will in 2015 seek accredited Clinical Trials Unit (CTU) status.  Currently we are bringing together a methodological infrastructure to create a catalyst and mechanism for the delivery of high quality research across the local and regional health economy.  The postholder will support the development of appropriate CTU infrastructure and policy.  Further leadership roles are being developed for the CTU, including the role of Director in due course.
