Since its inception in 2001, the School of Population Health has
established itself as a leading centre of public health teaching and
research that, by influencing health care reform both in Australia and
abroad, can improve the lives of people around the world. The School is
one of seven within The University of Queensland’s Faculty of Medicine
and Biomedical Sciences
The project
The Australian Longitudinal Study on Women’s Health (ALSWH) examines
the health and well-being of over 50,000 women in four age cohorts (born
in 1921-26, 1946-51, 1973-78 and 1989-95). Since 1996, ALSWH surveys
have assessed participants’ physical and mental health and well-being as
well as their use of health services and medications. ALSWH is funded
by the Australian Government Department of Health and is conducted
jointly by staff at the University of Queensland and the University of
Newcastle. At the University of Queensland, the Study is located in the
School of Population Health at the Herston campus.
The role
ALSWH is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Biostatistician to
conduct statistical analyses for ALSWH scientific publications and
presentations, Government reports and grant applications. The
Biostatistician will also be responsible for statistical aspects of the
study, in collaboration with other ALSWH statisticians.
The person
Applicants will require a higher degree in the area of biostatistics,
or another relevant discipline, and must have experience working with
large datasets including linked administrative health data. It is also
essential for candidates to have good interpersonal skills and be able
to work effectively as part of a team.
Remuneration
This is a full-time, fixed-term appointment for 2 years at Academic
Level A. The remuneration package will be in the range $58,763.47 to
$79,708.50p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17%
(total package will be in the range $68,753.26 to $93,258.95p.a.).
