Strong preference will be given to candidates whose
research interests overlap and/or complement the main research areas of
the department. University lecturers and university researchers are
expected to have doctor’s degree, excellent records in conducting
scientific research as well as in educating and supervising
undergraduate, graduate and PhD students. The candidate's records will
be evaluated based on their scientific work, records in directing
research programs, teaching experience, pedagogical education, produced
teaching material, and/or other records from teaching posts. Teaching
skills must be demonstrated by a sample lecture or through equivalent
documents. The duties in each post includes reasearch, teaching, and
supervision of students.
The postdoctoral researchers
are expected to focus on scientific research, but also to participate
in teaching within their own areas of expertise. The amount of teaching
duties is rather small. The candidates are expected to have doctor’s
degree, on suitable areas of research, and relevant teaching skills.
According to Finnish law, a non-native university
teaching staff member can be granted an exemption from the requirement
of Finnish language proficiency. As the department organizes part of its
teaching in English ability to teach in English is credited.
The salary of post-doctoral researchers depends on
the qualifications and experience of the nominee and ranges between
levels 5-6 ( 2 820,64 EUR/month – 3 293,22 EUR/month). Based on
personal performance, these can be supplemented by up to 46.3 %.
