The Analytical Data Team consists of a Manager and three Data
Analysts and sits at the centre of the data environment based around the
Banks database software, FAME.
Brief Description
The Monetary Analysis Business Support and Strategy Unit is seeking
to recruit a motivated and flexible individual to work in the Analytical
Data Team. They provide support and cover for the Analytical areas,
including Banking, Governors Office, Monetary Analysis and Statistics,
Financial Stability Strategy and Risk, Communations, Markets, MPC Unit ,
Prudential Policy and the Prudential Regulation Authority.
Detailed Description
The Team is responsible for loading the underlying data for the Banks
publications including the MPC and FPC Chartpack, Financial Stability
Report, Inflation Report, Quarterly Bulletin and International and
Domestic Forecasts.
The role maintains the management of the FAME database, including the
direct feeds, validation and onward distribution. The role ensures data
is loaded at correct intervals throughout the day and that queries are
responded to efficiently. This requires working closely with IT to
ensure any issues are swiftly dealt with.
They liaise with all levels of staff including Senior Management and
also have contact with external data suppliers such as Bloomberg,
Thomson Reuters and the ONS, therefore it is essential for the jobholder
to have both good written and verbal communication skills. The
jobholder will be expected to develop an understanding of data and will
learn to identify trends in and interpret data.
As the job is working within a small friendly team with two other
data analysts, it is vital that the job holder has good team working
skills, is reliable and flexible and is willing to ‘go the extra mile’.
Job Requirements
Successful candidates will need to be proficient in the use of MS
Office packages, especially Excel. Those who have already completed ECDL
modules in Excel, or those who have experience of using Excel macros
will be at an advantage, although full training will also be provided.
Good working knowledge of the ITSM call logging system and SQL is
also an advantage, but again, full training will also be given.
The job requires a good level of literacy and numeracy,
accuracy, planning and organisational skills, initiative, common sense
and IT proficiency (including use of databases).
Candidates should possess strong organisational and communication
skills as well as have a keen eye for detail. The ability to produce
accurate work to tight deadlines is important.
