Assistant Professor of Statistics, University of Alaska Fairbanks



The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Alaska Fairbanks invites applications for a tenure track position in statistics. Minimum qualifications include a Ph.D. in statistics or a closely related field, with evidence of recent research and teaching experience strongly preferred.  Publication in refereed journals and a record of effective teaching is an expectation for tenure.

The University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF) is the major research institution in the University of Alaska system. The Department currently has four Statistics faculty positions. UAF offers an MS degree in Statistics and a Graduate Certificate in Statistics.  The successful candidate will find numerous opportunities for collaboration with researchers in areas such as  ecology, fisheries and wildlife science, geology and geophysics, engineering and statistics education.  This position will involve teaching two statistics courses per semester at the graduate and/or undergraduate level. Summer teaching assignments and funded collaborative work with research institutes are commonly available. The position is open until filled; files first reviewed Nov. 25, 2014.
