Retroscreen Virology (“Retroscreen”) is a rapidly growing UK life sciences company pioneering a technology platform called hVIVO which uses human challenge models of disease involving healthy volunteers to study new drugs and investigate disease in a safe, controlled, clinical environment.

Retroscreen has established itself as the world leader in this field through the provision of clinical research services to third party study sponsors. To date, we have conducted 37 clinical studies, involving more than 85 separate quarantines and more than 1800 volunteers for a range of leading industry, governmental and academic clients.

The platform has a much wider application in helping to better understand illness because our belief is that the best way to understand human disease is by studying it in humans, not laboratory models.

The team at Retroscreen are committed to creating the next generation of drugs and vaccines for a number of respiratory diseases and in exploring other disease areas with unmet medical needs such as asthma and COPD, developing new human challenge models to address these too.

As well as the significant contribution made by healthy volunteers, these developments will mean working with patient volunteers who suffer with a specific illness or disease that we are targeting for further exploration and much greater in-depth understanding.
