Established
in 2005, CREAL is a leading research centre in environmental exposure
assessment and epidemiology. Our mission is to promote and develop
advanced epidemiological research on environmental factors affecting
human health, to facilitate the prevention and control of its harmful
effects. CREAL investigators are experienced in longitudinal
epidemiological studies of environmental factors and child health. With
our long-standing experience in national and international multi-centre
investigations, our portfolio is ever expanding, including the
coordination of an increasing number of projects funded through the
European 7th Framework Programme.
For
a new, innovative project called HELIX (www.projecthelix.eu), we are
looking for a post-doctoral researcher to join our young, dynamic team
in child-health research. The project consortium exists of 13 partners
from eight countries, which are working to link environmental
epidemiology studies with “omics” laboratory sciences. Based on the
‘exposome’ concept, the project will generate a large amount of data on
early-life exposure to multiple environmental factors and will associate
these with omics biomarkers and child health outcomes (Vrijheid Environ
 Health Perspect 2014).
As a post-doctoral researcher, you will:
- Perform statistical analyses to describe dependencies between exposures, define exposure patterns and their predictors, and explore inequalities.
- Conduct statistical analyses linking exposome and health outcomes.
- Interpret and discuss the results with other HELIX members.
- Write scientific papers.
- Contribute as co-author to some HELIX publications.
- Present results in scientific conferences and meetings.
Person Specification:
- PhD in Epidemiology, Public Health, Biostatistics or related topics
- Experience in conducting statistical analyses, especially on multivariate methods (factor analysis, clustering, …).
- Excellent organization and communication skills
- Excellent writing skills.
- Proficiency in English (written and spoken)
- Teamplayer, yet capable of working autonomously, rational thinker
