This job is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious and able epidemiologist or statistician who has a track record of high quality, applied, public health and/or epidemiological relevant research, to join one of the UK’s leading centres for research in population health sciences – the University of Bristol’s School of Social and Community Medicine. The post holder will work with multidisciplinary research teams to help to develop and deliver the programme of research being undertaken at Bristol as part of the work of the National Institute for Health Research’s School for Public Health Research (NIHR SPHR) and will combine this with statistical modelling of exposure trends for a cohort study of cancer risk in the UK rubber manufacturing industry funded by Cancer Research UK.
The first area of work is part of the Ageing Well theme within the NIHR SPHR and is focused on “Inequitable access to interventions” (led by Yoav Ben-Shlomo & Martin White). The second area of work will involve statistical modelling of historical data of exposure measurements of carcinogens in the UK rubber manufacturing industry (led by Frank de Vocht). The aim of this work is to provide estimates of long term exposure to carcinogens for the 40,000+ workers in a cohort of UK rubber manufacturing workers with a 45-year follow-up.
These posts will suit researchers with a PhD using quantitative methods and who have considerable experience of doing qualitative research, or who are keen to work with qualitative methods in an applied health services research setting. We would like to hear from researchers with a strong commitment to develop a personal research profile in this area, working alongside other researchers employing a range of multi-disciplinary research techniques.
