Assistant Professor of Statistics. Western Washington University

Duties & Responsibilities: The successful candidate is expected to be an excellent teacher, who will teach both lower-division and upper division/graduate level courses in statistics and probability. The current standard teaching load is two courses (about 9 classroom hours per week) per quarter. Teaching assignments may include some core mathematics courses. A good refereed publication record is required. He/she is expected to be actively involved in curricular development and other departmental issues. Interdisciplinary collaborative research and the establishment of grant-funded projects are strongly encouraged.
Position Qualifications: Required Qualifications: • Ph.D. (or equivalent advanced degree) in statistics or a related field by September 2014. • Evidence of effective undergraduate teaching. • Evidence of active scholarship. If post-doctoral experience, evidence of continued scholarly productivity. • Ability to work effectively with a diverse colleague and student population. Preferred Qualifications: • Evidence of on-going professional service.

Salary Range: Commensurate with experience

Company Information: The Department of Mathematics has about 20 full-time faculty whose interests extend over a wide range of topics in applied and pure mathematics, statistics and math education. Besides our primary focus on undergraduate instruction, we offer a Masters program in mathematics with about 20 students.
