By leveraging internal and external data, the team provides robust, fact-based analysis to deliver business insights to facilitate strategic discussions and inform decisions made by the firm’s global leadership.
The group’s unique and trusted position, effectively operating as an internal Strategy Consulting function, enables it to adopt a global approach to strategy development and execution by establishing linkages with leadership in service lines, Markets functions (such as global account programs, the firm’s industry sectors, innovation etc.) and geography
Key internal clients of the team include the members of the Global Executive leadership team, Global leaders of Service Lines, Sectors, Trade and Accounts. The team reports to the Global Vice Chair – Markets.
A leading edge strategy analytics capability has been established within GMS&A to help inform the strategic decisions being made through the use of data and application of advanced analytical techniques. These include market analysis (regulatory, competitive, economic, etc.), scenario planning, strategy development and implementation, strategic communications, balanced scorecard development, and other items of strategic and operational importance to the firm.
This group is planned to grow to support the development of EY’s strategy.
Data Driven Decision Making in EY
Today is a time of significant change and challenge to EY’s business. So, to develop the required analysis and points of view, our Executive Leadership requires exceptional problem solving and insightful professionals who are able to acquire synthesize, model and interpret data from a range of internal and external data sources.
We are looking for high quality problem solvers who can think out of the box, match sound technique and technology with critical thinking and analysis to support high profile strategy analytics projects within the GMS&A team. Our outputs must be clear and compelling, soundly researched and analysed, and presented in a form which is immediately accessible to our global leaders.
The person appointed will work closely with the Director responsibility for Analytics to synthesize and analyze both internal and external data to provide market and strategy insights to the firm’s global leadership.
Candidate profile:
- Rigorous yet pragmatic approach to problem solving on complex business problems: designing, developing and documenting analytics based approaches which can be replicated and redeployed
- At least 2 years’ experience in data driven problem solving – including ‘hands on’ analysis of financial and other data including, analysis using a statistical tool such as R and visualization using Tableau or Spotfire
- An understanding of the strategic, competitive and economic business challenges facing organizations
- Experience in developing financially based decision making models with limited or incomplete data to help inform and make better business decisions
- Naturally inquisitive and ability to think laterally
- Good communication skills; written, verbal and data visualization. The ability to present complex concepts and data outputs simply to senior leadership and non-analytics professionals
- Specific sector experience is not necessarily required: however, candidates will typically demonstrate strong analytical capability in one or more analytics domains
The main responsibilities of the team include:
- Delivering strategic analytics insights – Informing the choice of strategic decisions through the use of internal and external data and advanced business modeling.
- Markets business and revenue planning – working with Global, Service Line and Regional leaders to develop strategic, investment and revenue plans for their businesses.
- Business Unit strategy development – Working closely with Service Line leaders to develop new strategies for their business. Typical activities include comprehensive market, competitive, risk and financial analysis as well as delivery of executive workshops to accelerate decision-making.
- Assessment of market growth opportunities and market risks – Taking the lead in understanding external market forces, competitive position and assessing how they impact EY’s service offerings and business operations.
- Support to strategic planning process – Coordinating key processes such as the development of global priorities in the context of overall megatrends.
