Postdoctoral Research Fellow - University of Southampton

 Applications are invited for a two-year postdoctoral Research Fellowship in Statistics in the Southampton Statistical Sciences Research Institute (S3RI, http://www.southampton.ac.uk/s3ri) at the University of Southampton. The Research Fellow will also be a member of the Statistics Group within Mathematics (  http://www.southampton.ac.uk/maths).

This fellowship is part of a collaborative research project led by Dr David Woods between statisticians in S3RI and Mathematics, and chemists, engineers and statisticians at GlaxoSmithKline Research and Development (GSK).

The successful candidate will have, or be about to obtain, a PhD in Statistics, or equivalent research experience, and will have good communication skills and be able to interact effectively with collaborators in Statistics and other scientific disciplines. A background in Bayesian methods, nonparametric modelling or design and analysis of experiments is desirable.

The main role of the Fellow will be to research new methods for the design and analysis of cost-effective, multi-factor and sequential experiments, including for nonparametric and nonlinear mixed effects models. The Fellow will also work closely with GSK scientists to enable them to embed methods in their experimental programmes.
