Research Associate, University of Sheffield, UK

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral research position at the School of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Sheffield. The post is part of a large and innovative research project Managing Uncertainty in Complex Models involving researchers at four other universities in addition to Sheffield. The post holder will work on the extension of the original MUCM project, MUCM2. Background to the MUCM project and an outline description of MUCM2 can be found at www.mucm.ac.uk. The successful candidate will be working under the supervision of Dr Jeremy Oakley, on the development of Bayesian methods for the analysis of computer experiments. Specific research topics will include methods for stochastic models, heterogeneity in model outputs and model-informed decision making. Candidates should have (or expect soon to have) a PhD in Statistics or a related field. This post is fixed-term and is available with an immediate start date and an end date of 30 September 2012.
