Diet, nutrition, metabolic/hormonal imbalances, energy
excess consumption, obesity, and physical inactivity are important contributors
to increasing cancer incidence rates worldwide. However, the mechanisms of
action of these factors remain poorly understood.
The main research objectives of the Biomarkers Group
are to develop new approaches and to use the most advanced analytical
techniques to identify, validate and implement biomarkers, in order to better
understand the relationship of nutrition and other environmental and lifestyle
factors with carcinogenesis. These biomarkers are applied to population-based
studies in different geographic areas.
A postdoctoral position is immediately available
within the Group to work on projects
related to polyphenols, hormones and
cancer risk in large prospective cohort studies (EPIC).
Candidates with a relevant background in epidemiology
or biostatistics with a good knowledge of English are strongly encouraged to
apply.
This postdoctoral opportunity is initially for one
year with possibility of renewal, and is suitable for candidates who have
completed a Ph.D., or who have acquired equivalent training.
The IARC postdoctoral stipend is currently €2750 per
month. The cost of travel for the Fellow, and in certain circumstances for
dependants, will be met, a dependant’s allowance paid, and health insurance
covered.
Interested candidates are
invited to contact Dr Sabina Rinaldi (rinaldis@iarc.fr)
or Dr Augustin Scalbert (scalberta@iarc.fr)
with informal inquiries. Applicants
should send a CV, including list of publications and a description of previous
research experience, as well as the names and addresses of two academic
