The Cabinet Office is currently recruiting for a highly-motivated
Analyst with strong technical quantitative skills to join their Analysis
and Insight Team. The Analysis and Insight Team provides research and
analysis services across a wide range of dynamic policy areas at the
very heart of government. In addition to Ministers and policy officials,
the team regularly briefs the Cabinet Secretary, Head of the Civil
Service and other Permanent Secretaries. As part of the Government
Innovation Group the team is also at the centre of exploring innovative
new approaches to conducting analysis and supporting policy makers.

As an Analyst at the Cabinet Office you will have a unique chance to
use your analytical work make a real and tangible difference to people’s

deliver a programme of quantitative analysis for the Community Life
Survey, which provides policy makers with Official Statistics on
measures of social action, civic participation and community
empowerment.
The Role:
You will lead the analysis and dissemination of findings from the
Community Life Survey, which directly inform development of high-profile
policy within Cabinet Office and across Whitehall in relation to social
action, civic participation and community empowerment.You’ll also be
responsible for managing the innovative experimental work seeking to
test the viability of online methodologies for future waves of the
Survey.
Your responsibilities will include:
Leading the analysis of the Community Life Survey, including actively
liaising with policy customers and data users to identify current gaps
in understanding, and delivering analysis that fulfills such needs;
leading the dissemination of survey findings, including working with the
contractor to design and deliver a regular newsletter to update on
latest findings and analysis, and actively networking both within and
outside of government to promote the findings and maximise their value;
and working at the cutting edge of the methodology behind collection of
Official Statistics, overseeing the experiment to test the viability of
online methods for data collection, and actively liaising across
Whitehall to promote this innovative work.
Skills and Experience Required:
The Cabinet Office is looking for exceptional candidates who possess
strong technical skills and a degree in a numerate discipline such as
Economics, Statistics, or a Social science degree with substantial
statistical training. You will able to demonstrate the ability to
combine these with building strong relationships with policy and
analytical colleagues and representing the Government in external forums
such as OECD expert groups and the voluntary sector. You’ll be a
confident communicator with an interest in building networks across the
government analytical community, and in using creative dissemination
techniques to maximise impact.
Additional Information:
This is a 2 year Fixed Term Appointment with the possibility of extension or conversion to permanency.
Candidates who meet the successful standard at interview will also be
added to a reserve list for a period of 12 months, during which time
they will be considered for other similar posts in the Cabinet Office.

Salary: £30,117 to £38,484
