Assistant Professors in Statistics. London School of Economics, Department of Statistics

Applications for these two new posts are invited from outstanding candidates in the field of statistics. Successful candidates will join an established and successful department and contribute to its expansion in fields related to statistical computation and statistical learning. The posts are tenable from 1 September 2015.

You should have an established track record of research at a level of international excellence as well as a completed (or near-completed) PhD in statistics or a related subject. You will maintain an active programme of research that has the potential to result in world-leading publications. You will also contribute to the general work of the department, including the teaching of a range of courses in statistics.

It is expected that the persons appointed will contribute to the development of MSc provision in areas of statistical computation and/or statistical learning (including machine learning and data mining). Research expertise relevant to these areas, including experience with large/complex datasets, is desirable. It will also be an advantage to have a commitment to undertake research related to either time series analysis, financial statistics or statistical methodology relevant to any of the substantive areas of focus of the LSE.

Shortlisting and appointments will be made on the basis of the criteria specified in the Person Specification for this post.

Informal enquiries can be made to Professor Chris Skinner at c.j.skinner@lse.ac.uk
