Assistant or Associate Professor of Statistics. Miami University (Middletown Campus)

Duties & Responsibilities: Miami University invites applications for the position of assistant professor or associate professor (tenure track) in the Department of Statistics beginning in August 2014. The position is based at the Middletown regional campus, and duties include teaching, scholarship, and service. In addition, the position includes appointment as a statistician or as assistant director of the Applied Research Center of Miami University, a policy research and analysis center located in Middletown that has pursued large-scale research projects for state and federal agencies since the 1980s. Expectations include teaching undergraduate statistics courses (both classroom-based and online formats); providing service, including statistical consultation, to the campus and community; and continued scholarship and publication. Additional opportunities include but are not limited to designing and teaching interdisciplinary courses in the Bachelor of Integrative Studies program; teaching courses and directing graduate research in Miami’s master’s degree program in Statistics, as well as collaborative scholarship with colleagues in the natural, social, and applied sciences on all campuses. Significant service, including meaningful and ongoing activities involving community engagement, will be highly valued.
Position Qualifications: Require: The successful candidate will possess a doctorate in Statistics or Biostatistics by the start date and have a record or demonstrated potential in the areas of teaching, scholarship, and service. Applicants from all areas of statistics will be considered. For appointment with rank of associate professor, an established record in the areas of teaching, scholarship, and service will be required. Desire: experience with applied statistical research and publication; the writing/administration of grants.
