Astro-Lab : UCBL is recruiting a biostatistician

Biostatistician- Pharmacoepidemiology research Field

We are looking for a biostatistician to join our research team at Lyon Pharmacoepidemiology unit and
contribute to the analysis and dissemination of results from ASTROLAB, one of our innovative
epidemiology research projects.

The project
ASTRO-LAB is a 4-year European project (FP7) coordinated by our Unit and conducted together with 6 other partners in 4 European countries. It aims to bring a new knowledge on the risk-benefit ratio of LABA inhalers in asthma treatment in routine care, via an innovative design that combines prescription and claims data, with self-reported data from patients and clinicians. The data are collected within a longitudinal prospective cohort study, where patients (adults and children) from 2 European countries are followed up for a period of up to 24 months. The innovative cohort design has produced a complex and unique dataset from different sources. The project has started in December 2011 and data collection is now ongoing, with first data extractions already available for analysis.
The team Lyon Pharmacoepidemiology Unit is affiliated to the Research unit, LBBE (Biometry and evolutionarybiology), UMR 5558, linked to the CNRS and the Claude Bernard Lyon 1 University(http://lbbe.univlyon1.fr) .Lyon Pharmacoepidemiology Unit focuses their main research areas on drug utilization, adherence, effectiveness, safety and benefit risk ratio of drugs in real life settings, using health insurance data, electronic health records and patient reported outcomes.

The Mission
In collaboration with other team members (project manager, data-manager and epidemiologist) and
European partners, the biostatistician will be required to perform a range of analysis tasks, as follows:

- Analysis preparation :
o Choice of methodological approach
o Statistical analysis plan writing

o Quality check of data
o Linkage between different databases
- Analysis realization:

o Safety analyses via comparisons, notably between treatment exposure groups and in
specific subgroups.
o Modelling of population-level impact of serious asthma events, and of changes in
access to therapy
- Final report writing, publications and dissemination (international meetings)
- Optional: teaching activities depending on candidate profile, experience and career plan.

Education: Higher education in Biostatistics (Doctoral thesis, Master, Engineer diploma…).The proposed job position can be considered as post-doctoral fellow, depending on candidate profile.
