OCR is one of the three UK-wide awarding bodies, offering qualifications to learners of all ages through 13,000 schools, colleges and other institutions.
Confident and enthusiastic, with excellent numerical and verbal skills, you have previously worked in a fast paced environment and have a history of successfully meeting regular operational deadlines. You have a sound understanding of assessment data, and an awareness of assessment theory and practice. Knowledge or experience of item bank maintenance would be useful.
You will work within the Research & Technical Standards Team in the Standards area. On a day to day basis you will be office based. Key aspects of the role are:
Providing data and statistical advice to support the awarding process for OCR’s suite of Skills & Employment qualifications.
Responding to requests for technical analyses to support evaluation of assessment quality, marking quality and grading.
Working with colleagues across OCR to manage item banks, ensuring that assessment material is maintained and developed to meet assessment delivery requirements.
Assisting with system developments to enable data reporting, meeting both needs for internal management reporting and regulatory requirements for data.
Given the nature of the work, a meticulous eye for detail is essential, as is the ability to work to tight deadlines and schedules determined by the assessment windows. You will need to have the confidence and competence to deal with colleagues and customers at a senior level.
You will have strong analytical and problem-solving skills and be able to communicate with accuracy and clarity in technical reports and presentations as well as on a less formal level. Clear communication skills are necessary, as you will be offering statistical/technical advice to colleagues with differing levels of technical understanding. Previous experience with SQL is essential as is an advanced familiarity with Microsoft Office. Some familiarity with SAS or SPSS is desirable.
