Duties & Responsibilities: Provide biomedical/statistical support needs for UCSD Center for Translational Research Institute (CTRI, http://ctri.ucsd.edu); Review methodological plans, project protocols, and statistical analysis sections and recommend statistical procedures, including, but not limited to, hypothesis tests, regression models and machine learning techniques to analyze the data; Prepare reports that summarize the analysis of research data, interpret the findings and provide conclusions and recommendations; Conducts/consults on statistical analyses, when indicated, and provides support for presentation and publication of research results. 
Company Information: UCSD Division of Biomedical Informatics: Biomedical Informatics is an interdisciplinary field at the intersection of biology, medicine, and quantitative sciences. Biomedical informatics researchers develop new methods to integrate and analyze vast amounts of data generated in the laboratory, clinical and translational research, clinical encounters, and population studies. The goals of the division are to (1) promote excellence in biomedical informatics research, (2) collaborate with biomedical researchers in developing new quantitative methods that enable the formulation and testing of original hypotheses, (3) train the next generation of biomedical informatics specialists, and (4) interface with engineering, mathematics, information and computer science communities, serving as a hub for quantitative scientists focused on biomedical research.

Position Qualifications: PhD in statistics, biostatistics, bioinformatics or a related field; Strong programming skill required; Proficient knowledge in high-throughput molecular data such as exome sequencing, RNA-Seq, microRNA, transcriptome database and ontology; Demonstrated experience in experimental design, sample size calculation, and power calculation; Proficient knowledge in generalized linear model, survival analysis, mixed-effects model and kernel-based model; Proven records of publication and developed software tools for both statistics and biomedical informatics; Ability to communicate with physicians, investigators, and colleagues; Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; 

Salary Range: Based on NIH scale and UCSD guideline
