Duties & Responsibilities:
The statistical genetics research group at Michigan State University
invites applicants for a 2-3 year Postdoctoral Fellow position focusing
on statistical analysis of next-generation sequencing data. The
successful applicant will work with Dr. Yuehua Cui to develop novel
statistical methods for integrative genomic data (including whole-genome
sequencing, RNA-seq, ChIP-seq and copy number variants) analysis,
collaborating with scientists from MSU and University of Wisconsin to
carry out real data analysis focusing on a potato population.
Specifically, the fellow will: (1) Analyze DNA variants, RNA-seq,
ChIP-seq and copy number variants data, and identify novel features and
variations in genomic levels; (2) Develop novel statistical and
computational methods to integrate various sources of “omics” data to
elucidate the genetic and epigenetic bases underlying the variation of
plant vigor in potato. Review of applications begins immediately.
Position Qualifications:
Applicants should have a doctoral degree in Statistics/Biostatistics,
Computational Biology, Bioinformatics or other relevant discipline with
strong quantitative research background; Strong background in
statistical modeling of large scale high dimensional data; Strong
computational skills (R or C/C++ ) + (Python or Perl) in Unix/Linux
environment; Excellent written and oral communication skills. Experience
of analyzing next generation sequence data is a plus.
